Introduction
Welcome to the Module Speaking Skills in English!
The module consist of five units:
Different materials and tasks will help you to become aware of the main principles of oral communication, both monologue and dialogical. In order to speak fluently about a certain topic you need good vocabulary. Working on the materials and exercises in the units 2 and 3, you will experience how one can improve vocabulary related to a specific topic. The topic we have chosen in this module is dedicated to media and their influence on the present-day life. Whether you will bring your message through or not depends very much on your arguments. The way of presenting your opinion and reacting to the statement of the people you communicate with is an important segment of your speaking skills.
After the first three modules in which you will get familiar with important elements of the spoken communication, in the unit 4 you will apply the acquired knowledge. You will be able to chose your favourite topic and prepare either a monologue speech related to one of the given topics or a debate in form of a dialogical communication.
In the last unit you will get familiar with the elements of self-evaluation and of external evaluation which will help you analyse your own level of competence. The main purpose of the evaluation will be to become aware of your strong and weak points and to improve the weak ones in the future. The five units should be studied chronologically, however, you can always return to any of the offered materials and tasks. Feel free to spend as much time as you need to complete each of the tasks. The foreseen time frame for the work on the whole module is five weeks. Introduction Learning outcomes Study materials Unit 1 Unit 2 Unit 3 . Unit 4 Unit 5 Project tasks Test
