Political and Economic Transition of Eastern Europe

The first objective of the course is to introduce graduate students to the literature on transition of Eastern Europe. Both political and economic aspects of this transition will be discussed in seminars.

The second principal purpose of the course is to promote the development of each student as an active scholar. To this end, students will be required to engage, as it is obvious from the course requirements, in many of activities associated with scholarship.

The third objective is to provide students with basic facts about present political and economic situation in East European countries, especially those countries that are still outside the European Union.
