MONO PROJECT TASKS

 

 Now you should be ready to work on your project task. You have two options:   The following steps should help you:

   A – prepare a short speech / presentation (10 – 15 min)

   B – find a partner and prepare a discussion (5 – 10 min)

  When choosing the option think about the technical possibilities of submitting the the final product of your project.

 

  1. chose a topic of your interest

  2. think about your project option (A or B)

  3. brainstorm the ideas you would like to talk about

  4. make a draft of your speech/presentation or discussion

  5. do additional research about the topic, if needed

  6. make a list or a mind map of basic terms

  7. check the main parts of your speech (introduction, body, conclusion) or phrases for expressing agreement/disagreement

  8. practice to speak fluently (without a written support)

  9. measure the time you need

  10. adjust the length of your speech or discussion

In the option A you are expected to make an audio recording of your speech and send an

  mp3 file (e.g. you can use Audicitysoftware for your recording).

  You can also have somebody make a video recording of your speech /presentation (you 

  do not have to use professional equipment, mobile-phone and/or digital cameras will do).

In the option B you can also make an audio or a video recording.

  If you prefer you could use Skype and arrange an appointment with the tutor who will 

  monitor your discussion (in the group call version).

Here are some topics for the option A

  1. Young people and sports

  2. The importance of education: studying or working

  3. Fashion and appearance

  4. School clubs and free time

  5. Travelling and getting to know other cultures

  6. Family lives nowadays

  7. Traditional and modern art

  8. Eating habits and health

  9. Most powerful media

  10. Discovering nature

Feel free to suggest other topics.

If you are not sure about your choice consult your tutor.

Here are some opening statements for your discussion in the option B

  1. Young people do not read enough today.

  2. You are what you wear

  3. Plastic surgery improves life quality

  4. Watching TV is an addiction

  5. Computer games support virtual lives

  6. Young people do a lot for the environment

  7. Smoking shortens peoples’ lives

  8. Marriage is still in nowadays

  9. It is not hard to understand other cultures

  10. City life has many advantages

 Keep in mind that the chosen topic should be interesting for both participants of the discussion. If you and your partner should have other ideas for the discussion consult your tutor.

Criteria for the evaluation of your project

 When
working on your project you should keep in mind the following criteria that
will be considered in the evaluation of your project:

6 criteria can be marked from 1 – 5, resulting in the total score of 30 points.
