ABM-utvikling

developing a cross-domain aggregator for museums, archives and libraries in Norway. During the development of the aggregating service a new metadata schema was defined and named ABM Semantic Elements Norway.

Aggregator

an organization that collects metadata from its group of content providers and transmits them to Europeana, helps content providers with guidance on conformance with Europeana norms and converts metadata if necessary. The aggregator also supports the content providers with administration, operations and training.

ARROW

project that aims particularly in supporting the European Commision's i2010 Digital Library Initative by finding ways to identify rightholders, rights and clarify the rights status of a work including whether it is an orphan or out of print. This will enable libraries as well as other users to obtain information on who is the pertinent rightholder, which are the relevant rights concerned, who owns and administers them and how and where they can seek permission to digitise and / or make the work available to the user groups.

In the context of Europeana this term is used for aggregators which gathers metadata of objects from digital libraries located in a specific country.

Cross-domain aggregators

In the context of Europeana this term is used for aggregators which gathers metadata of objects from institutions from multiple domains (libraries, museums, archives, etc.)

CulturaItalia

(http://www.culturaitalia.it/) The portal aims to promote the Italian cultural heritage, giving a unique point of access by the aggregation of digital information about cultural resources from public and private museums, libraries and archives.
